Case study: Bristol Museum & Art Gallery

MESH Engineering provided specialist structural and conservation engineering support on one of Bristol’s most important cultural landmarks. Working closely with the architect and heritage officers to ensure interventions were proportionate and appropriate to the setting, we planned discreet interventions that respected both the building’s layout and heritage value.

    Structural  alterations and temporary works designs to  this prominent set of listed, historic properties in Bath World Heritage Site. 

  • Dutch Barn Conversion, South Gloucestershire

    Structural design of barn conversion introducing new curved steel roof beams to replace the existing trusses, new steel & timber mezzanine floor and foundations. 

  • MESH engineering bath spa uni music studio structural support and change of use

    Compton Music Studio, Bath Spa Uni

    Change of use of 1960’s steel and concrete teaching space into state of the art music studio. New steel grillage supporting additional loads were carefully coordinated with existing structure using hidden columns and beams to avoid compromising proposed new spaces.

    Fairfield House, Bath

    Structural monitoring and repair to the Grade II listed former residence of Haile Selassie, Emperor of Ethopia. Sensitive approach  in acknowledgement of the significance of the property and its gardens to the Rastafari community. 

  • Retaining Structure, London

    Multi-faceted, cost-effective, engineering solutions to support a first floor balcony and strengthen pavement coal vaults all displaying signs of movement, co-ordinating with Transport for London, Heritage England and Party Wall Surveyors.

  • Luxury period home extension

    Bath Stone orangery extension to a historic period home, to provide a light, warm family space.
